The original low smoke technology Le Maitre Pea Soupers are an industry standard for dry ice powered low smoke effect.

With straight forward operation and variable dry ice output, the Pea Souper is convenient and capable of giving 5 minutes of fog production using nothing more than dry ice, so no smoke fluid required here.

Dry ice required, 9kg will produce about 5 minutes of fog. The rate of the low fog is controlled by a four step ratchet system which lowers the basket of dry ice into the boiling water tank below, this then creates the fog which exits the machine from the front nozzle or via the ducting provided.

Dry ice, which can be purchased from various suppliers around the country, is solid carbon dioxide and heavier than air which creates a low lying blanket of fog which is odourless for that atmospheric 'walking on clouds' effect. We have not known it to ever set off smoke detectors but the CO2 produced from the dry ice means that you cannot lay in the low smoke due to risk of suffocation.
